From a dream to reality, the return of the Hollywood Jazz Festival on November 20-21 was officially announced this week! Produced by The Rhythm Foundation and presented by SiriusXM’s broadcast, this festival at the ArtsPark honors the legacy of the original Hollywood Jazz Festival that originated in 1983 at Young Circle Park, while also introducing audiences to a new generation of artists. What a wonderful coincidence that CBS recently featured our festival’s legendary headliner Ron Carter!
In 1958, photographer Art Kane assembled many of the greatest legends in jazz on a brownstone stoop in Harlem; his picture became one of the most famous images ever taken of artistic royalty. Correspondent Mo Rocca talks about Kane's iconic group portrait with the photographer's son, Jonathan; and about the legacy the musicians left behind with legendary bassist Ron Carter, who played alongside nearly all of the jazz greats pictured that hot August day.
