Public Participation Ordinance
The HCCA has asked the City of Hollywood to add a requirement to the Planning and Development process to would require developers to make a formal presentation to the civic associations in the area of their planned projects. Many new development projects fail to inform the local residents about their projects. This lack of transparency creates much angst and results in miscommunications, etc. The requirement could be modeled after the City of Ft. Lauderdale’s “Public Participation Ordinance” that requires a developer to complete an affidavit showing when, where and who they reached out to in a given neighborhood. This would greatly improve the planning process and give the local residents a much-needed voice in the process.
